DECEMBER 15, 2011
SAN ANTONIO, TX (December 14, 2011) Customers familiar with the blue 5-gallon pails distributed by VP Racing Fuels for more than 20 years will soon see their orders filled with a newly designed pail that has undergone a significant makeover. “Our traditional 5-gallon pails served us well with a quality and look driven by functionality,” said Steve Scheidker, VP ‘s Director of Marketing. “They came to be synonymous with VP’s no nonsense approach to quality. However, we concluded it was time to upgrade the pails’ look to support our current brand positioning and better complement the advanced performance characteristics of the fuels they contain.” “First, the new pails incorporate VP’s current tagline, ‘MAKIN’ POWER!’ and have an unconventional, edgy look in keeping with VP’s position on the leading edge of race fuel technology and our unbridled passion to stay there,” Scheidker added. “This attitude will carry over into our national rollout of VP-branded retail gas stations and C-stores where dealers and customers will be reminded that unlike traditional refiners, VP is not a conservative ‘oil company,’ but rather an unconstrained ‘performance company’ willing to push the edge of the envelope.” “In addition, the new pail design includes images representative of the wide variety of motorsports VP supports with the best quality performance fuels. This will serve to remind customers of VP’s broad experience in race fuel technology and how adept VP is in transferring technology from one segment to another to yield ever-improving performance across all racing applications.” “Given that these pails are sold into every segment of motorsports and can be found in pits and garages throughout North America and around the world, they actually serve as ‘billboards’ for our brand,” Scheidker continued. “It only makes sense to leverage that exposure to convey our key branding messages.” “We’ve received nothing but positive reactions from our dealers who have seen the new pails and anticipate it will only enhance their ability to market VP’s products,” Scheidker concluded. “Importantly, the new pail design will have no impact on the price of our fuels and, of course, the quality of the pails’ contents will remain unsurpassed. We’re confident all our customers will embrace the new design and see it as the perfect container for their fuel of choice.” VP Racing Fuels is the leader in race fuel technology, with a well-earned reputation for superior power and performance. VP is the Official Fuel of National Hot Rod Association (NHRA) Championship Drag Racing, American Le Mans, World of Outlaws, AMA Supercross and Rally America among nearly 60 VP-sponsored racing series. In addition to racing fuels, VP’s product line includes SEF Small Engine Fuels for 2- and 4-cycle portable gas-powered tools and PowerMaster hobby fuels for R/C racing.PowerMasterFuels.com. |

AUGUST 24, 2011
SAN ANTONIO, TX (August 18, 2011) VP Racing Fuels, Inc., recently announced an agreement whereby over the coming months company owner Steve Burns will sell his interest in the company to Alan Cerwick, former executive at Valero Energy and 19-year veteran of the petroleum industry. Cerwick will assume the position of President, while Burns will remain CEO and continue to direct all research and development for race fuel products. “VP remains committed to leading the industry in race fuel technology and we’ll continue delivering the leading edge fuel products racers have come to expect,” said Burns. “We have an opportunity to take the VP brand to the next level and Alan’s depth and breadth of experience in the industry will prove invaluable as he undertakes this new initiative.” Cerwick has held key management positions at Koch Industries and was formerly Vice President of Wholesale Operations at Valero Energy. In 2002, Cerwick was integral to the rollout of Valero branded gasoline stations across the U.S. “I’m excited about the unique opportunity to leverage VP’s 35-year history of providing performance fuels in all forms of motorsports into a national brand of retail gas stations,” Cerwick said. “Racers win with VP fuels every weekend all across the country and internationally. Taking this winning tradition into the consumer marketplace provides unique opportunities for not only the retail gas station market, but also for all of VP's racing partners.” “VP plans to utilize this expanded market to provide more exposure to untapped markets for its partner series, tracks and race teams. Putting more fans in the seats helps all of the racing industry grow, ” Cerwick continued. “Retail gas stations will have the opportunity to expand their offering into new areas of revenue, including ‘VP100,’ a 100 octane street legal unleaded racing fuel, and an expanded product mix to include VP-branded fuel system cleaners, octane boosters and our recently introduced SEF Small Engine Fuel for 2-cycle and 4-cycle portable gas-powered equipment.” “ As our concept comes to realization, we will be working with our racing partners to find new and unique opportunities to expand the thrill and excitement of racing to our consumers at the retail gas stations ,” Cerwick concluded. ![]() TEAM USA SHOWED THE OTHER NINETEEN COMPETING COUNTRIES WHAT THEY WERE MADE OF AT THE 2010 MOTOCROSS OF NATIONS. |
SEPTEMBER 27, 2010 LAKEWOOD, CO (SEPTEMBER 27, 2010) The United States loves its motocross and it was evident this past weekend at the Thunder Valley Motocross Park located in the foothills of the Rocky Mountains. U.S. riders like Ryan Dungey, Trey Canard and Andrew Short took to the track and ended the weekend on the podium at the 2010 FIM Red Bull Motocross of Nations. The talented, young U.S. athletes sporting their red, white and blue jerseys outperformed 19 other competing countries. Andrew Short, using M8-1 and riding for Factory Honda, took 2nd in the final moto and 1st in the MX3 class, sealing the win for Team USA.
The competition was on the line during the last of three finals. Dungey snatched the #1 spot against 40 other competitors, fighting off Belgium and Germany while bringing the USA's Chamberlain Cup trophy numbers to six. "Ryan just killed it (Sunday)," Canard said. "It was amazing to watch." Dungey, who is a seasoned vet riding this series for the U.S., was indeed behind the overall success of the team by finishing first in both of his events (each competitor races in two of the three finals). This was a similar situation for Dungey at the 2009 finals in Italy. "It was a lot of effort and a lot of hard work," said Dungey, a four-time AMA champion since turning pro in 2006. "Our team had to get together and make a game plan, and it seemed like we all worked together, which helped a lot. I thought it was pretty good here," Dungey said. "They did a fantastic job with the track layout, and the fans were awesome." |
![]() HENRY WILES DOMINATED THE WHOLE DAY AT PEORIA FOR THE AMA GRAND NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIP CLAIMING HIS SIXTH STRAIGHT WIN. |
AUGUST 23, 2010 Wiles had himself a perfect day, not only posting the fastest qualifying time, but winning the fastest heat and leading all twenty five laps of the National. Wiles didn’t just squeak by for the checkered either, he finished in front of second place rider, Jared Mees, by over 11 seconds. "Today was just one of the days that I think even if I would have gotten a little behind, I could have came through real quick," said Wiles. "I think we had that much going on today." Any suspense was soon put to rest as the 18 rider National hit the first turn. "I got the perfect start and that always makes things easier. There's a lot that can go wrong in this race," said Wiles. "Fortunately the bike ran strong the whole time and there were no issues there mechanically.” “There were a few times, because the track was a little bit sketchy, the bike was stepping it out or tucking the front a little bit here and there. I kind of wanted to look back just to see how I was doing. I know I had more in reserve and I was just trying to ride a smart race. I wanted to know if someone was there and if I should wick it up a little bit. Fortunately I didn't have to do that. We just rode a good race. The Monster Energy Kawasaki was running good today, that was probably the best bike we've had here yet."

![]() JEREMY MCGRATH, FORMER MOTOCROSS LEGEND, WON HIS FIRST TRAXXAS TORC SERIES RACE AT BARK RIVER RACEWAY. |
AUGUST 14, 2010 “What do you say about this Bark River track?” said one excited McGrath from the winner’s podium after the race. “I think it’s one year to the day that Rob got me on the last lap and ended up winning that race. We finally got to seal the deal. “I gotta say thanks to the whole Greaves team, Kurt and Johnny and Brad and the whole crew. I mean, all you guys have put in a lot of work for me and have been patient and I appreciate that. This is a weekend I’ve been waiting on for a long time, so what better place to have it than Bark River!” Winning at Bark River gives McGrath a substantial points boost with contenders MacCachren wrecking early in the race and Chad Hord spinning out late in the game. Astonishingly, both MacCachren and Hord still managed to weave their way through the field to fight and victoriously obtain podium spots at Bark River. |
![]() DOLLANSKY WITH SUPPORT OF HIS TEAM AND FAMILY TAKES PODIUM AT CEDAR LAKE. |
JULY 11, 2010 WIN #2 AT CEDAR LAKE COULDN’T FEEL ANY BETTER FOR DOLLANSKY
There were plenty attempting to chase Dollansky down over the course of this 30-lap contest. Jason Sides started on the pole and looked for the top spot at the green and Sammy Swindell moved into second attempting to challenge Dollansky. Then, Jason Meyers moved into the runner-up spot later in the race and got alongside the leader a couple of times just prior to the halfway points of the race. "It feels great to win," said Dollansky. "We have a very strong team here and everyone works so hard and they certainly deserve to win. It's been a long time since we won a race this year and it's not from a lack of effort, that's for sure. It takes a lot of work to get that done. We had a good dash draw which helped as well, but when you have something like that you have to capitalize on it. I was trying to not give the race away. I feel like I have given a couple away this year and was trying not to beat myself." Dollansky stayed in front for three restarts choosing the low line for the first two and moving to the top of the track for the final restart on the 14 th lap. He used a strong start each time to charge into turns one and two as the leader. "I did not want to give it away," shared the veteran driver, when asked about the move to the top on the double file restart. "I was in the lead at Grand Forks (River Cities Speedway) and gave it away on that final restart and I didn't want to let my team down tonight. My team has worked hard and we have had a couple of races slip away by my fault and a couple of mechanical problems. This is a great team. It's great to win with a lot of family and friends here and with our car owner Tod Quiring in the house. I couldn't be happier for everyone involved." KOPP GIVES COMPETITION A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY AT I-96
DAYTONA BEACH, FL (JULY 11, 2010) AMA’s best of the best came to I-96 Speedway on Saturday to duke it out on the well-known half mile. Joe Kopp was tested at the beginning of the weekend, but overcame two restarts and took his #3 Harley to victory in round eight of the K&N Filters Grand National Championship. Jake Johnson on his #5 bike took the hole shot on the first start, but could not duplicate it the second time around. "I knew I had to get out front and not make any mistakes," said Kopp. "I was the veteran, I should be able to keep the 'kids' behind me." Kopp took command and pulled away from Johnson as his attention turned to a fight for 2nd with Kenny Coolbeth as the second red flag came out. A single file restart saw Johnson looking to make an inside pass on the first turn, but his fate was sealed as Kopp maintained his walls. Coolbeth continued to put pressure on a 2nd place Johnson, but no better luck. Late in the game Sammy Halbert, Jared Mees and Chris Carr attempted to make it a six-way race, but after lap 22 the top positions were set. Kopp, with a commanding lead, took the checkered. This win gives him a 13-point advantage over Johnson with Henry Wiles and Sammy Halbert just a few points behind. VP Racing Fuels is an official sponsor of AMA Pro Racing
